Kenya has no separate cookie law. What governs this is the Data Protection Act, 2019 itself: a cookie or storage key that can identify you holds personal data, so setting a non-essential one needs a lawful basis. Section 32 requires that consent be express, unequivocal, free, specific and informed — and given before the processing, not assumed afterwards. Regulations 12 to 15 of the Data Protection (General) Regulations, 2021 say the same about how that consent is captured and recorded.
That is why nothing beyond the strictly necessary is switched on when you first arrive. You have to turn it on, and you can turn it back off on this page at any time.
Mooud uses browser cookies, session tokens, and local storage keys (such as localStorage and sessionStorage) to preserve your secure authentication state, remember your currency choices, and hold the thread of a conversation with Naya.
Customise which category of cookies/storage you allow. Essential tokens are strictly required for security, logins, and threat-mitigation firewalls.
Enables login sessions via Firebase Auth, security token validation in the Middleware Firewall, and regional routing.
Saves your chosen app language, localized currency conversions (e.g. KES, UGX, TZS, NGN, ZAR), and light/dark theme aesthetics.
Tracks general application flow metrics, usage density across regional hubs, and anonymous wellness statistics to improve Naya's AI models.

You can block or delete all cookies by modifying your web browser settings. Please note that disabling Strictly Necessary cookies will immediately log you out and block all communications with Naya and SKIP rides, as session verification is required to safeguard against bots.
Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, which is what section 32(4) of the Act requires. Turning Analytics off here also stops us using your data for direct marketing; under section 37 you can object to that at any time, and every marketing message we send carries a way out of it.
